"New virtual business
networking clubs get a new
twist - offering a new way
to meet to give and receive
referrals.... now they meet
on the Internet."
TITLE:
Business networking clubs
go virtual for leads.
By John Davin
For members of a new virtual
referral group, business networking
(referral) meetings are now
much easier to attend. As
of 12-10-2004, they will attend
all meetings live through
the Internet. From their home
or office!
For example, John Davin of
Wildwood, MO is inviting up
to 30 fellow business owners
to meet weekly with him online
to each take 3-5 minutes to
talk about their businesses,
get to know each other, then
exchange business leads. Mr.
Davin says it's a great way
to meet a variety of business
owners, because the group
limits membership to one person
from each field. Then they
can then talk in their own
voices over the Internet to
the group, bring up (push)
their web site or a power
point presentation to the
rest of the group and explain
what type of leads they want.
The system was set up to take
advantage of the power and
flexibility of the Internet
by Mr. Davin of Wildwood,
Mo. He says he set up the
virtual meetings because "My
networking buddies and I need
business leads, but we're
tired of having to leave the
home or office for our networking
meetings.... tired of driving
for 20 minutes or more both
ways, then having to spend
$15 on a meal too! So we're
going "High tech"
to solve the problem. We have
our business network meetings
live via the Internet!"
All members need to participate
is access to the Internet,
and a cheap $15.00 headset
(or speakers and a microphone).
This means anyone anywhere
can have their own local group
using the technology provided
by Talking Communities, a
company of which Mr. Davin
is part owner.
If you're not familiar with
how networking groups work,
here is the basic idea. Networking
groups generate leads for
their members by inviting
one person from each industry
to come and tell the other
members about their business.
Then members give out referrals
to the other respective members.
Traditionally, networking
clubs meet at a restaurant
for breakfast or lunch. Again
only one person from each
type of industry is invited
to become members. The main
idea of the groups is to meet
fellow business owners to
exchange business leads.
For example, only one real
estate agent, insurance rep,
webmaster or computer technician,
etc. will be invited to be
members of each club. So there
are no problems with competition
within the group for each
industry.
The on-line meetings work
very much like their traditional
counterparts. The on-line
meeting starts with a low
pressure "get to know
each other" session.
Then each person gives a 2
minute summary of their business,
the services they offer and
the type of leads they desire
for their business. They can
even share a power point presentation
with the other members, or
just show off their web site,
live.
A directory of members can
be viewed on-line before the
meetings. Forms for giving
referrals can be downloaded
to member's computers and
printed. Then member can take
the forms with them wherever
they go, come back and fax
them or send them to the member
receiving the referral.
Better yet, with the on-line
business directory, members
give referrals by filling
out a form on the web site
or sending e-mail to the members
Here are reasons Davin feels
the virtual network are:
1. Referrals are 100% free
leads.
2. Referrals are for people
ready to buy.
3. Referrals are Prequalified
for you by the person making
the referral.
4. Referrals reward good businesses
and take business away from
bad businesses.
5. Referred people trust you
because the referral came
from a trusted friend or associate.
6. You will receive more referrals
as you build your reputation
for delivering a good service
and for providing leads to
others in your group!
